Depending on the policy of each country, the package may be subject to customs duty or value-added tax when you receive your reward, and you will be responsible for the relevant costs. For US and EU backers, to learn more about the customs duties and taxes, please read the information below:
HS CODE
The first six digits of the HS code is 847759.
EU
- For Preorder Users - We collect relevant VAT at the checkout page. We will ship goods from our EU warehouse. Therefore, EU preorder user won’t need to pay additional fees when receiving the package.
- For Kickstarter Backers - We don’t collect any taxes before shipping. We will ship all rewards from China to backers worldwide. Although rewards for the EU backers won’t be shipped from within the EU, EU backers do not need to worry about the customs procedure since goods will have already been cleared customs by logistics company and be delivered to your address directly. Therefore, EU backers need to pay relevant customs duty or VAT when receiving the reward. The customs duty and VAT rates vary depending on the policy of your local customs office.
US
- As we know, the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative recently published a list of 3,805 products (Chinese goods) that could be hit with the additional tariffs. The 3D printer is on this list. That means goods are worth more than $800 will not be exempt from additional taxes. We all hope that the tariffs will go away by the time we ship out the rewards to you. However, if the additional tariffs were in place at the time you receive the goods/rewards, you would be responsible to pay this fee.
- The duty-free importation of personal-use may applicable to some US pledges. For example, if the declared value of the goods is under $800, it’ll be duty-free.

This information does not seem to be accurate for US? Also Snapmaker should really be more transparent on tariff costs and not make people search for the following information. Currently tariff is at a significant 35% (+ $420.00 at current pre-order price for A350) for HS code 847759, according to https://hts.usitc.gov. Also according to HTS, the 3D printer under 847759 is NOT on the additional tariff (15%) list. Quote from "China Tariffs.pdf" from HTS: https://hts.usitc.gov/view/China%20Tariffs?release=2019HTSARev12 and HS numbers before and after the missing 847759.
"Search for an 8-digit subheading of interest; if it appears on this list, products in that subheading are subject to the 15 percent additional duty.
